Intelligent Systems is an active area of research at the USI Faculty of Informatics. We work on Artificial Intelligence, Data Analysis, Data Mining, Machine Learning, Neural Networks, Optimization, Pattern Recognition, Robotics.
Cesare Alippi
Prof. Alippi's current research activity addresses adaptation and learning in non-stationary environments, graph-basd learning and Intelligence for embedded, cyber-physical systems and IoT.
Fabio Crestani
Prof. Crestani started the local Information Retrieval Research group. His main areas of research are Information Retrieval, Text Mining, and Digital Libraries.
Luca Maria Gambardella
Prof. Gambardella is studying machine learning and developing algorithms inspired by the behaviour of ants applied to logistic problems.
Natasha Sharygina
Prof. Sharygina's research interests are in software and hardware verification (e.g., model-checking, abstract interpretation, decision procedures, satisfiability modulo theories - SMT), information security, and concurrent and distributed computing. She heads the Formal Verification and Security Lab.
Paolo Tonella
Prof. Tonella's research interests include deep learning testing, web testing, search based test case generation, and the test oracle problem.
