A group of six students from Ticino (1) and from the German-speaking part of Switzerland spent four days at the Faculty of Informatics, from September 10 to 13, to take part in the study week called “Fascinating Informatics”. Under the supervision of faculty and researchers of the USI Faculty of Informatics, the students were given the opportunity to create smartphone applications, to design 3D videogames, and to empower Internet websites with Mashups and webservices

The initiative of the Schweizer Jugend Forscht foundation aims at fostering a deeper knowledge and understanding of informatics by encouraging future generations to consider pursuing their education paths in this increasingly pervasive and infrastructural field of today’s society. USI participates in the event since 2008.

The students were assited by our PhD candidates Saeed Aghaee, Randolf Schärfig, Marcello Paolo Scipioni, and Giacomo Inches.

Finally, on Friday 14 the final presentation of all the projects developed by the 37 young students – hailing from all over Switzelrand – who took part in the nation-wide event and who spent the study week at USI, Universities of Basel and Neuchâtel, and the University of Applied Sciences at Brugg/Windisch was held in Brugg/Windisch.
