On Tuesday, 14 November, the USI Faculty of Informatics hosted a workshop on drone programming organised in collaboration with the Mendrisio High School. Eleven students took part in the workshop, three female and eight male fourth-year students, all enrolled in the computer science elective.

The workshop lasted six hours and was divided into two parts - one in the morning and the other in the afternoon. USI provided lunch for the attendees. During the day, the students participated in various practical exercises to learn how to program drone movements. Academic Coordinator of the Software Institute, Roberto Minelli, and Master's student in Software and Data Engineering, Andrea Brites Marto, were present to guide the students. This workshop is part of the Faculty of Informatics' educational activities aimed at schools.

"This is the second time we have offered this activity to the students of the Mendrisio High School, and we are very pleased with the results," Roberto Minelli tells us. "During the practical part of the workshop, the students showed great interest in drone programming and put in a lot of effort to complete all the exercises we assigned. I strongly believe that organising such events is crucial in promoting our University among schools and attracting potential students interested in pursuing a career in IT."
