On 3 March 2025, the women and girls of USI Faculty of Informatics gathered for a special event to celebrate the International Day of Women and Girls in Science. Now in its eighth edition, this event represents a moment of reflection, sharing, and inspiration for all participants, including bachelor’s and master’s students, PhD candidates, postdoctoral researchers, and professors.

Organised by Professors Laura Pozzi and Monica Landoni, the gathering provided a space for meaningful dialogue on key topics related to the role of women in computer science. This year’s discussions focused on the stereotypes that still surround women in STEM fields and explored strategies to break these barriers, fostering a more inclusive and open culture.

Beyond intellectual and educational aspects, the event was also a valuable opportunity to strengthen the sense of community. As per tradition, after engaging discussions, participants shared a convivial lunch and captured the moment with a group photo— a symbol of the unity and determination that binds them together.

This gathering not only celebrates the achievements of women in science but also continues to inspire future generations to break down barriers and build a future where talent and passion matter more than any stereotype.
