Artificial intelligence that knows how to play Rock-Paper-Scissors, an intelligent greenhouse to discover how to apply the Internet of things to agriculture, developing solutions for equity with the Arduino system. These are the activities that Università della Svizzera italiana has proposed to the eight participants, four girls and four boys, of Coding Camp 2023, an initiative of the Science and Youth programme in which USI, the Swiss Federal Institute of Technology in Lausanne (EPFL), the Fachhochschule Nordwestschweiz and IBM Switzerland have collaborated.

The Coding Camp Study Week offers an opportunity for both boys and girls to explore the fascinating world of information and communication technologies through programming. Expert guidance is provided to help the participants discover the various aspects and possibilities of this futuristic field. The programme also places particular emphasis on creating a gender-sensitive working environment to overcome the effects of gender stereotypes that are still prevalent in MINT disciplines (mathematics, informatics, natural and technical sciences)...

The Coding Camp activities at USI were held from Monday 11 to Thursday 14 September. On Friday 15, all participants went to EPFL for public presentations of their projects.
