ABSTRACT:
PreCog is a group of researchers who build technologies to characterize and predict acts of crime (computer, cyber), and to develop an early warning system that could help policy analysis and law enforcement agencies. We are also interested in building security and privacy systems that are usable, in particular, we focus on systems in the Indian context. Our work derives techniques from Computer Science, Information Technology, Data Mining, Text Mining, Statistics, Social Science, Public Policy, Human Computer Interaction, and Psychology. In this talk, I will focus on some recent projects that we have been working on, and share some research results.
BIO:
Prof. Ponnurangam Kumaraguru ("PK"), is an Assistant Professor at Indraprastha Institute of Information Technology (IIIT), Delhi. PK received his Ph.D. from the School of Computer Science at Carnegie Mellon University (CMU). PK's research interests include developing technological and multi-disciplinary solutions to reduce computer crime, information security, cyber crime, trust, and human computer interaction. Of late, he has been working on Privacy and Security in online social media, analyzing online user-generated content to detect cyber crime. PK has received research grants from Government of India, Industry, and other funding agencies. PK manages and coordinates a research group PreCog @ IIIT-Delhi.
