TITLE: A flexible domain decomposition method for multi-body contact problems

In this talk, we consider the information transfer between non-matching finite element meshes. We present an efficient mortar approach for the assembly of a discrete coupling operator providing a stable information transfer across geometrically distinct warped interfaces of complex geometries in 3D. Several numerical examples in computational (contact) mechanics illustrate the effectiveness of our approach. Moreover, we outline the flexible applicability of the derived transfer operator in a (non-linear) multigrid method of optimal complexity.
Thomas Dickopf is a PhD-student in Applied Mathematics at the Institute for Numerical Simulation of the University of Bonn in Germany. There, he completed his Master's degree in 2007. Under the supervision of Professor Krause he has been working on non-conforming domain decomposition methods for contact problems. His current research focuses on diverse multilevel methods with non-nested meshes.
