TIME: 9.00-15.40

DESCRIPTION

In recent years, supercomputers are used increasingly as a virtual laboratory to perform scientific experiments that would be expensive or even impossible to perform in a physical laboratory. Physical phenomena are recreated and often visualized with the help of computer simulations. The more complex phenomena require the construction of  complex models that in turn require an ever-increasing amount of computational resources that only the fastest supercomputers can provide.

The USI Università della Svizzera italiana (USI) and the Swiss National Supercomputing Center (CSCS) are pleased to announce this first edition of the Workshop on Modern Trends in Advanced Scientific Computing which will explore recent research results in advanced scientific computing. The goal of the workshop is to present applications of supercomputing to different scientific areas and to stimulate interaction among computer and computational scientists and lead to future collaborations. All interested researchers are welcome to attend the workshop.
