On Tuesday, 11 November 2025, the Faculty of Informatics at USI welcomed five fourth-year students from Mendrisio High School enrolled in the elective path in Informatics for a day of in-depth study dedicated to full-stack web application development.

The activity aimed to introduce participants to the world of web application programming from a full-stack perspective. This encompasses both front-end development, which is the visible part of an application that users interact with, and back-end development, which handles the application logic, data management, and communication with the database.

The day was led by Dr Andrea Mocci, Eng. Valerie Burgener and Eng. Davide Paolo Tua, all members of the CodeLounge research and development group at the Software Institute, who guided the students through a theoretical and practical exploration of how modern software architectures for web applications work.

The initiative is part of the established collaboration between the Faculty of Informatics and the Mendrisio High School, which has been promoting opportunities for discovery, in-depth study, and guidance for students interested in the world of informatics for several years.
