UBS Inter-University Case Competition 2025: Four USI Teams in the Finals

Over 90 students from Università della Svizzera italiana (USI) took part in the first selection round of the UBS Inter-University Case Competition 2025 on Monday, 3 March. Four teams have secured a place in the finals, which will be held on Thursday, 13 March and Friday, 14 March, at the UBS Center for Education and Dialogue in Wolfsberg.

The UBS Inter-University Case Competition 2025 has commenced, involving the universities of St. Gallen, Zurich, Lausanne, and Università della Svizzera italiana. The first selection round took place on Monday, 3 March, at the Lugano campus. This event, organised in collaboration with the Career and Alumni Service, attracted over 90 students from both Bachelor's and Master's programmes in economics, finance, and informatics. The participants engaged in analysing real banking scenarios.

After a day of challenges and simulations, the four teams that will represent USI in the finals were selected:

• Alessandro Novali, Bruno Cocozza, Leonardo Crespi (Master in Finance)
• Luca Cereghetti, Marko Tokic, Oleksandr Pryimak (Master in Finance)
• Devid Vernava (Master in Finance), Dilan Can (Master in Management and Informatics), Gianluca Cortiana (Bachelor in Economics)
• Alice Samà, Jasmine Solcà, Sara Puttini Ruiz de la Hermosa (Bachelor in Economics)

The encounter was introduced by Professor Alberto Plazzi, Director of the Master in Finance, who highlighted the significance of initiatives like this in promoting practical learning and direct engagement with the realities of the financial sector.

The four USI teams will compete with the best students from other Swiss universities in the finals on 13 and 14 March 2025 at the UBS Center for Education and Dialogue in Wolfsberg. The prize is a 2025 summer internship at UBS in strategic areas such as Asset Management Investments, Wealth Management Switzerland, and Corporate & Institutional Clients.
