On Monday, 17 February 2025 at 6 pm, Barbara Caputo, Full Professor at Politecnico di Torino and Director of the Hub on Artificial Intelligence of the same university, will give a lecture titled "Artificial Intelligence: let's knock on wood" at the East Campus Lugano Aula polivalente. This event is part of the Grand Prix Möbius 2024 award ceremony, which recognises Artificial Intelligence at the Service of Society. Professor Caputo will be awarded for her dedication to developing a sustainable and inclusive AI model.

The award ceremony will open with greetings from Alessio Petralli, Director of the Möbius Foundation, and will continue with a lecture by Barbara Caputo titled "Artificial Intelligence: Knock on wood". During her talk, Prof. Caputo will discuss the importance of three key ingredients for the development of AI: data, algorithms and computational capacity. In an era where AI is becoming increasingly powerful, often dominated by those with advanced technology and extensive resources, Caputo will emphasise the necessity of ensuring that AI serves humanity. She will highlight the importance of accessible computing infrastructure and the training of new experts in the field.

The ceremony will culminate with a laudatio by Professor Andrea Emilio Rizzoli, Director of the Dalle Molle Institute for Artificial Intelligence (IDSIA USI-SUPSI), who will highlight Caputo's extraordinary contribution to the field of AI. After the lecture, the audience will have the opportunity to interact with the awardee during a question session.

The event is open to the public with free admission. More details can be found on the official website of the Möbius Foundation.
