USI condemns the terrorist attacks by Hamas and any actions that violate international humanitarian law. USI appeals for the safety of all civilian populations involved to be respected.

The Rectorate expresses particular support to all students, researchers and staff members affected by the consequences of this conflict. If you are going through difficult times, you can contact USI in ascolto, the support desk dedicated to community members. For more information, you can visit https://www.desk.usi.ch/en/usi-in-ascolto.

USI, in collaboration with the Middle East and North Africa (MENA) Division of the Swiss Federal Department of Foreign Affairs, has been committed to promoting peace in the region for many years. Since 2018 the University has hosted around 500 young people at www.mem-summersummit.ch. As per the latest advice from the Swiss Department of Foreign Affairs (FDFA), USI recommends avoiding all business travel to Israel and Lebanon until further notice.
