USI Lugano Faculties' first unified ceremony celebrated at LAC

The first unified USI graduation ceremony was held on Monday, 15 May at LAC, Lugano arte e cultura. It brought together all the Faculties of Lugano. In the presence of institutional and political authorities, Bachelor's, Master's and Doctorate degrees were awarded to 293 students of 34 different nationalities. The guest speaker was Bruno Giussani, global curator of the prestigious TED conferences.
This is a significant moment for Università della Svizzera italiana as all faculties of Lugano have come together for the first time to celebrate the awarding of diplomas. It is a historic occasion for the university.
The event took place in the presence of the institutional and political authorities, featuring Lorenzo Cantoni, USI Deputy Rector, Monica Duca Widmer, President of the USI Council, Luisa Lambertini, USI Appointed Rector, the Deans of the Faculties of Lugano, Marina Carobbio, State Councillor and Director of the Department of Education, Culture and Sport, and Michele Foletti, Mayor of Lugano.
The first diplomas to be conferred were the Bachelor's degrees (69), preceded by the speeches of the Deans of the Faculties of Lugano: Giovanni Pedrazzini (Faculty of Biomedical Sciences), Luca M. Visconti (Faculty of Communication, Culture and Society), Gianluca Colombo (Faculty of Economics), Marc Langheinrich (Faculty of Informatics) and Costante Marabelli (Dean of Studies of the Faculty of Theology of Lugano, affiliated to USI).
The head of the USI Alumni Service, Silvia Invrea, then took the floor.
Before the proclamation of the Master's degrees, the event's guest speaker Bruno Giussani, global curator of the prestigious TED conferences, took the stage and gave a speech on the topic of "Conscious Digitalisation", addressing the social, communicative, economic and ethical implications arising from it.
The ceremony continued with the awarding of Master's degrees to 179 recent graduates and Doctoral degrees (45).
The Appointed Rector of USI, Luisa Lambertini, gave a closing speech.
The ceremony was enlivened by musical interludes performed by the Orchestra della Svizzera italiana (OSI).
