From 8 to 12 September 2025, the USI Faculty of Informatics welcomed six young students from the cantons of Aargau, Grisons, Schwyz and Zurich for the “Coding Camp” Study Week in Computer Science, an initiative of Schweizer Jugend forscht.

The participants, three girls and three boys aged between 15 and 18, worked in groups of three on innovative projects:

  • Smart Solar Panels, supervised by Alberto Ferrante (Prof. Alippi’s group)

  • Coding a File Encryption Tool, supported by Pasquale Polverino (Prof. Carzaniga’s group)

The initiative was not limited to USI: EPFL, the Zurich University of Applied Sciences (ZHAW), IBM Switzerland and Microsoft Switzerland also took part in the Coding Camp.

The programme concluded on Friday, 12 September, when all 27 participants (including 14 girls) will gather at IBM Zurich-Altstetten for the final project presentations, marking the culmination of a week of creativity, collaboration and innovation.
