CSCI 7818: Meddling with Middleware
or
How I Learned to Love Programming on the Internet
Welcome
Middleware is the technology that allows us to put together
large-scale, distributed applications in less time and with less cost
than traditional approaches. Or so they would like us to believe...
We will be studying and experimenting with a wide variety of
middleware technologies and challenges:
- Distributed objects (e.g., CORBA, Java/RMI, DCOM, and SOAP)
- Reactive systems and event notification services
- Agents, mobile code, and *lets
- Security and intrusion tolerant systems
- Fault tolerant architectures
- Network management services
- Application servers
- Scalability
