11 February marked the International Day of Women and Girls in Science, proclaimed by the United Nations to promote women's full and equal participation in science. Once again this year, the Faculty of Informatics of Università della Svizzera italiana took the opportunity to bring together female students, researchers and professors of the Lugano campuses for a moment of dialogue and exchange.

In 2015, the United Nations General Assembly established the International Day of Women and Girls in Science. The purpose of this day is to promote equal access and participation of women and girls in science, as well as to support gender equality and women's empowerment. This anniversary serves as a reminder to invest in equality in science, which is essential to achieving successful models of sustainable and inclusive societies.

Laura Pozzi, full professor at USI Faculty of Informatics, organised an informal gathering for Bachelor's, Master's, and PhD students, as well as female professors of the faculty. The event aimed to provide an opportunity for the attendees to share their experiences and highlight the significance of the female professors' testimonies as women actively involved in the scientific field.
