Mauro Pezzè is a Professor of Software Engineering at the Università di Milano Bicocca and at the Università della Svizzera Italiana, where he has been leading the STAR research group since 2006. In 2019, he joined the Constructor Institute as a Professor and founded the STAR group there in 2020. He holds a laurea degree from the University of Pisa and a PhD from Politecnico di Milano. Before joining the Faculty of Informatics of the University of Lugano, Mauro Pezzè was professor at the Università di Milano Bicocca, associate professor at Politecnico di Milano, and visiting scientists at the University of California Irvine and at the University of Edinburgh.
Prof. Pezzè served as dean of the faculty of informatics from 2009 to 2013 and has been the editor-in-chief of ACM Transactions on Software Engineering and Methodologies since 2019. He was an associate editor of IEEE Transactions on Software Engineering from 2013 to 2017, of ACM Transactions on Software Engineering and Methodologies from 2006 to 2013, and of the journal on Software Testing, Verification and Reliability (STVR) in 2018.
He has also held various program chair and general chair positions in international conferences such as ACM International Symposium on Software Testing and Analysis (ISSTA) and International Conference on Software Engineering (ICSE).Additionally, he has been the technical lead for several multi-year international research and development projects in close collaboration with leading European information and communication companies.
