Announcements

• Feb 19: Welcome to Algorithms and Data Structures!
• Feb 25: Homework problem n. 1 (non-graded): solve the pi Python programming exercise. Use this template as a basis to read the command-line parameter. This assignment will be discussed in class on Tuesday March 3.
• Mar 2: Homework problem n. 2 (non-graded): solve the longest identical sequence Python programming exercise. Use the longest_identical.tgz test package to test your solution as follows. First unpack the test package. This will create a directory longest_identical. Write your solution as a python program called longest_identical.py in the longest_identical directory. Then open a terminal, change directory to the longest_identical, and run make. This assignment will be discussed in class on Thursday March 5.
• Apr 2: The midterm exam is scheduled for Thursday, April 23 during the usual lecture slot from 10:30 to 12:30. It will be a two-hour exam, with exercises similar to the ones in the collection of exercises, but perhaps a bit more concrete. For example, you might be required to submit an algorithm in the form of a python program.
• Apr 19: The midterm exam will be similar to this set of exercises. Solve these exercises as a trial for the midterm exam. Read and follow the instructions very carefully. We will discuss this set of exercises in class on Tuesday, April 21.
