SWERC is a 5-hour programming contest for teams ocused on algorithmic problem solving and practical coding. It is open to teams from France, Israel, Italy, Malta, Portugal, Spain, Switzerland as well as from Andorra, Liechtenstein, San Marino, and the Vatican City. SWERC serves as the regional selection phase for the International Collegiate Programming Contest: the winning team(s) of SWERC will advance to the ICPC World Finals and compete against teams from all over the world.

This year's competition took place at the end of January at the Sorbonne in Paris and also featured two teams made up of six of the best students of the Bachelor in Informatics. The two USI teams achieved good results, finishing 32nd and 33rd out of 107 participating teams from the best universities in south-west Europe.
