Estimation of drag and lift coefficients for steady state incompressible flow of a newtonian fluid on domains with periodic roughness

An overview of simulations for 2D laminar flows around a cylinder is given,which have been defined for a comparison of the behavior of the incom-pressible Navier-Stokes equations on rough domains with different period-icity. The exact definition of the test case is recapitulated and the details of thenumerical scheme and the characteristics of the supercomputer used in thesimulation are introduced. A detailed evaluation of the results is presented,also including an analysis of the scalability of the designed algorithm, testedin CSCS, the Swiss National Supercomputing Centre. The principal purposeof the simulation is discussed and some general conclusions which can bedrawn from the results are formulated.
