I woke up this morning and looked out of my kitchen window and saw a palm tree under the snow.

It was the first time I saw that palm tree in many months, maybe a year. It was always there, I just did not look at it, I was always looking in the distance at the mountains… Isn’t it amazing how sometimes we look but we don’t see.

Or as Saint-Exupery, one of my favourite frenchmen would have probably said it… exploration journey does not mean traveling to great distances, but seeing things with new eyes.

I was reviewing one submision for a software engineering conference’s tool demonstration track today and I found myself forced to write this bit of feedback:

“The reference in german is not needeed. It is highly unlikely that the audience of the conference will obtain a yearly almanac of Shipbuilding from 1988 in german in order to investigate more the claim “a lot of technical useful software has been developed which is continuously in use”.
