Listening to the album 1 Giant Leap of the concept band with the same name. Some songs have pretty cool text-overs in the begining. One of them by Kurt Vonnegut:

TV is enough! It’s providing artificial friends and relatives to lonely people. What it is, is recurring families. The same friends and relatives come back week, after week, after week, after week. And they’re wittier, better looking, more interesting and richer that your real friends and relatives.

what do we do with the power?

Saturday, March 22nd, 2008

because of the technology that is available to us nowadays, we have the power to organize unprecedented events that happen on a global scale. the cool thing is that they can be grassroots movements: it does not take governments or multinational companies or international sports federations. you have an idea, you put up a website, people find out about it, and if they like it, they will participate.

for example i heard that there is a worlwide pillowfight day coming up soon. in various cities around the globe, people will agree on places where to meet and, at a signal, start fighting with pillows. zurich is one of them. sounds pretty fun …

another global event that is coming soon is pangea day. in may 10, people from different cultures and different places around the world will have the chance to watch the same movies in a day dedicated to understanding, tolerance and compassion. the event will be broadcasted live across the world in hundreds of cities. anybody can volunteer to host a pangea day. more about it in an inspiring ted talk here.

technology gives us the power to organize unprecedented events, at unprecedented an scale. what do we do with the power?

Microformats - The return of the Semantic Web :) Anotating your website with the help of css. It seems ironic to add semantics to your data layer by the means of the presentation layer…

Robotic Mule - I am not surprised that this comes out of Boston… :)
