day #1 in ny

I have just arrived to New York ready to start my IBM internship. I will start writing my impressions as I know that as time flies by, things which now amaze me, will become normal and I won’t even see them anymore. We get used to things too easily…
After a day of walking through the city I am not sure that I like the city per se but I am sure I like the people. They don’t care about traffic signs - a bit like the romanians :) And they are so diverse! A chinese boy holds hands with an african girl. Old ladies live in the youth hostel. Men witness Jehova but only if you speak spanish. Some people speak alone on the street; others, speak to all the passers by to inform them of the final judgement. Neighbours bring chairs on the street to chat and watch the world pass by.
And it’s hard to write how strange I feel to walk around in the city and know that all my friends are asleep in the meantime. For some reason this is more difficult to get used to than the distance…
