TVD-based Finite Volume Methods for Sound-Advection-Buoyancy Systems

In Computational Fluid Dynamics, the simulation of compressible, inviscid now is one of the most challenging tasks because it exhibits the most complex dynamics. We consider here buoyancy-sound-advection systems for stratified fluids.
These systems exhibit wave type solutions, which impose CFL-based restrictions on the time step size. Buoyancy, sound and advection cause separate restrictions each on their own scale.
We develop TVD based Finite Volume Methods where a splitting approach allows different treatment of fast and slow waves.
The methods are optimized with respect to order and maximum stable CFL numbers. Different scenarios for the scales of sound, advection and buoyancy are discussed.
